Picasso Wannabes
Finally.
It's the I&E Painting Day.
It's been something i have been looking forward to.
Reason being i want to get it over and done with the project as early as possible (& my group has one month to do the report!)
Another reason being that it's the very first time i get to do a project with my boyf and what's more it's a meaningful event, being able to do our little part for the community.
You'll never know how excited i was that day.
((:
Took the usual routine to the center, except that boyf and his friends boarded the bus on our way there.
Are You guys wondering why he and his friends are involved?
Cos they are volunteers who are helping us in painting the walls. (we have too many walls to paint)
It's kind of sad actually, when we were travelling there for the forth and last time.
No more going to Marymount Center.
No more passing by Lee Ah Mooi Home and teasing that we would be going there to stay when we are there.
No more of getting lost in Thomson Road.
No more of listening to Miss Fun's prominent laughter.
No more of playing and seeing of cute little children.
No more of having one room to ourselves for meeting and helping ourselves @ the home.
No more of having tea breaks which all of us have phobia in. (Haha, only the 4 of us know what it's about.)

And where's the pig i've drawn?! Missing! ):
Painting Day
Forgot to mention that we took a really cool and comfy bus 54. The bus was so special. The seats were like this:
And there were also long stretch of white comfy sofa for communters to sit on. But this seat above was a bit shaky and throughout the 4 stops, i kept holding on to the railing, just in case i fell off the seat. =p
Place of destination
We reached 2 hours earlier (1pm plus) to prepare the materials that we need. Learnt from the television program, Bai Jia Le, we pasted Masking Tape all over our painting.
It's really a powerful tool and a must for any painting!
Here too.
We reached too early! we had one hour plus spare in our hands after we finished pasting the tape and the laying all the newspapers on the floor for the 3 rooms within 30 mins. The volunteers mugged while jerric and kevin played with the kiddos.
The materials we're using. These paints are not as good as the ones we bought cos they were so watery! Even more watery than water colour. -_- We had so much difficulties painting with these paints and the drawings weren't as nice as when we first drawn!
Busy mixing the paint and distributing the paint that we need for each of our room while the little children took their nap.
Painting starts now!
Unity Room
Yvonne and Jerric were in charge of the Unity Room where they're painting a house
Busy, busy, busy painting. This room is considered to have the least things to paint cos the room was quite small and there isn't much paint for us to paint else where. Wait till you see the other two rooms...
Prayer Room
Kevin and I were in charge of this room, where we painted a lake.
The children busy painting the sea of blue.

The kids painting the ducks. They were so enthusiastic about the ducks all of them were fighting to paint them.
The 2 talented girls. (:
I think they were the best painters there and they painted the fish without having to sketch!*claps for them*
Look below to spot for the fish!
Me caught in action!
Joy Room
Boyf. (: He was in charge of the Joy room and he was delegating the jobs to the kids and the volunteers (Wei Lun & Yong Zhi). The kids kept calling my boyf 'uncle, uncle' when i told them umpteen times to call him 'Gor Gor' instead. Haha. Poor him.
I must praise him for handling the kids real well and he did a great job as well (: *pat on the shoulder)
Each of them busy painting their own animals.
Painting Jerric's cow

Victoria painting and boyf painting it again to make the colour looks more even and nicer. The frog turned out to be the worst out of all the animals cos the paint kept dripping and smudging the other parts of the body and yvonne was so sad that she had a hard time attempting to make it look nicer.
4 little kids to paint Jerric's gigantic cow.

The tall tree which only the 2 guys could reach to paint it.
Ah! Finally my pig appeared! These girls had done a great job painting the pig.
See! i told you the kids had done well. (: My pink pig!
Still painting...This was the biggest room where there were two sides of the walls to be painted.
Our Art Pieces!!!
We were so proud of our art work, given that all of us are not good at art.
We managed to finish everything within the expected time (3.00pm-6.15pm), even though we started later due to the children napping.
We were able to do so because each and everyone of us did our part.
When we are done with our own room, we went to help out the other room (Joy Room) and that's where we spent most of our time, after we finished the difficult task of outlining every single drawings.
Somehow, i don't know why, no more reason the children didn't help us out after their tea break but began to create havoc instead while we were painting. They seemed to be more interested in playing with the paint and making so much noise instead! See how fast children change their minds! So ended up that 7 of us did the whole job.
Outlining is no mean feat.
We couldn't touch the painting (the paint hasn't dry yet and we didn't want it to smudge) and we had to outline the drawings with our hand hanging in the air (you get what i mean?). I was so scared that i would outline wrongly/ the outline became too thick that my hands were trembling. (not really trembling in the sense, but shaking cos it was so unstable to have your hand relying on nothing.)
To stop that, i had to hold my hand with my other hand to minimise the shakiness and that's when i got the nickname of 'Ms Parkinson', as named by Jerric and Yvonne. Jerric has partial parkinson as well cos he couldn't handle outlining well too! haha.
But the effort was worth it cos the painting became much more pretty, gorgeous, outstanding (you name it) after the outlining.

The house at Unity Room

My duck, which has been diagnosed with serious lack of sleep. That should explain why most of its eyes were black!

Jerric's cute ugly duckling and my duck

The fishes which i told you guys earlier on that the 2 talented girls drew.
Mother duck with the baby ducks

My pig again! It has a big and protuding butt!
Tree with cherries
Boyf trying to draw clouds
Yvonne's froggy which she managed to revive! We were really efficient. We managed to clean up everything by 7pm, without any help from the children and teachers. Just the 7 of us!
When i say clean up, i meant:
- washing the brushes and containers
- Tearing off the masking tape and pulling all the newspapers on the floor and wrapping them up into the trash bag.
- Cleaning up the floor where there were paint stains.
- Shifting everything back into the original place.

In Joy RoomIn case you are wondering..My boyf was trying to point that i was that pink pig! So mean lah!!
Teamwork is the most important factor which led us to be able to finish the painting on time.
I am just so proud of each and every of us, and the volunteers. ((: cos they put in so much effort even though it wasn't even their own project.
Without them, we wouldn't have managed to finish everthing on time and this event wouldn't have gone so well and smooth.
A big THANK YOU to you guys!
And how could i forget about my group mates?
Thank you for committing so much of your time in this project and effort in making this event into a real success.
I am so glad that, in the process of this project, we didn't encounter much difficulties and problems along the way, which is really fortunate of us.
I've learnt a lot from this event. And gain a lot from this precious experience. Too much to pen each and everything down. (:
But this will definitely be one of the days that i would remember, forever.
THANK YOU EVERYONE, WHO HAVE HELPED IN THIS PROJECT IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER.
